佛教谓东南西北及四维上下。《宋书·夷蛮传·呵罗单国》：“身光明照，如水中月，如日初出，眉间白豪，普照十方。” 南朝 陈 徐陵 《为贞阳侯重与王太尉书》：“菩萨之化行於十方，仁寿之功霑於万国。” 唐 韩偓 《僧影》诗：“智灯已灭餘空烬，犹自光明照十方。”
