指同祖不同父的亲属。以别于“从堂”。《二十年目睹之怪现状》第十八回：“我走到外面，见是我的一位嫡堂伯父。” 周立波 《山乡巨变》上三：“他是你的嫡堂阿叔嘛，当然好罗。” 巴金 《探索集·探索》：“我同胞兄弟五人，连嫡堂弟兄一共二十三个。”
